The Acacia Community

Acacia College is located in the heart of an ambitious development known as the Acacia Ministry Centre.

Arising out of a truly innovative vision, the Centre will bring together in one location, a whole range of complementary community facilities and services, creating a fully-integrated community hub.

The planned facilities include a childcare centre with 3- and 4-year-old kindergarten programs; an aged-care facility, health and well-being facilities, a worship space and a café. These facilities will be open to all members of the community and are designed to be easily accessible and responsive to need.

As an initiative of the Uniting Church, the Acacia Ministry Centre has an underlying ethos that is strongly Christian. Most of the Centre’s services will be delivered in co-operation with existing Uniting Church agencies.

This development demonstrates an authentic and ongoing commitment on the part of all the parties involved to helping strengthen and enrich the local Mernda and surrounding communities.

For Acacia College, our strong connections and involvement with this wider community development will provide substantial benefits. Our students will be greatly enriched by participating in community service activities and discovering through personal experience the vital importance of social responsibility.
