Meet the Principal

Acacia College has appointed Andrew Houghton as its Foundation Principal.

Andrew graduated from the University of Ballarat and then moved to London where he taught in the challenging East End schools. On returning to Australia in 1995, Andrew joined Ballarat and Clarendon College. Over a five year period he taught primary classes and became Head of Information Technology – Curriculum with responsibility for Prep to Year 12 Information Technology curriculum delivery, academic reporting processes and laptop programs from Year 5 to Year 12.

In 1999 he was appointed Deputy Head of the Junior School at Ballarat and Clarendon College.

In 2000 Andrew was appointed Head, Primary School of Billanook College. He also served on the Executive of the Victorian Branch of the Junior School Heads of Australia from 2004 to 2006, with duties including the management of the web page for the Victorian Branch. In 2005 Andrew became a member of the Advisory Board for the Kangaroo Kids Education Limited Teacher Training Certificate in Early Child Care and Education. Kangaroo Kids Education Limited is a company that provides schools and teacher training nationally across India.
