Shawn Taggart
Title
Prep-Year 8 eLearning Manager, Year 7 Homegroup Teacher
Biography Shawn Taggart has been appointed eLearning Manager at Acacia College. He comes to us having varied experiences beginning firstly with Architectural Drafting.  Something he quickly realised was not his area of real interest after working with an architect that spent a year designing car parking spaces!  Shawn returned to university and completed a teaching degree, specialising in multimedia. This lead to many fun experiences with the Melbourne Comedy Festival, filming fashion shows, editing music videos and making advertisements for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Rather than teaching, Shawn decided he could help students more by assisting them create their own work and so commenced as an Audio Visual Specialist at Billanook College.  He soon became an invaluable part of the eLearning team and took on the editing and designing the College Magazine and assisting staff and students integrate technology into their learning programs.

Shawn’s fascination with the enormous potential in learning provided by ICT applications led him to continue his studies both formally and informally over many years.  He now has the distinction of being recognised by Apple Computers as a Distinguished Educator - an internationally recognised and prestigious qualification.  This enables Shawn to network with educators around the globe and bring these connections to the classroom.

Outside the classroom, Shawn is a father of two girls and still makes short films. Every week he also records a podcast with a group of other fans about iPhone applications and is an Apple fanboy (just Google his name and the word Apple). He also enjoys golf, skiing and sailing. He is just feels he is not good at any of them!

Shawn is excited about contributing to Acacia College’s eLearning vision and the part he can play in supporting staff and student learning in this ever-evolving ICT journey.
