Head of Junior School |
| Biography |
Karen comes to us as a very experienced teacher of the primary years, with a strong history of leadership in her field. Most recently she has been Head of the Primary section of the Plenty Campus of Ivanhoe Grammar School, providing insightful leadership and team building for the last 10 years. Prior to this time Karen has taught variously at Kinglake West, Thornbury and Westgarth Primary Schools. Her knowledge of the Plenty Corridor and District is very strong with her connections with families within the district quite extensive.
Karen has taken a keen interest in curriculum development as a vital part of her leadership role and has presented at various conferences and seminars in a range of areas including approaches to the teaching of literacy and in assessment for learning across the curriculum. Additionally, Karen recognises that children learn in their own unique way and that it is vital that all our teachers identify this information if our students are to love school and achieve their personal best.
Karen’s leadership and experience has been invaluable as the College moved toward the commencement of our Foundation Year and she is looking forward with anticipation and enthusiasm, to interviewing all the children entering the Junior School in 2011. As she quite rightly says; “All of us are so excited about the Acacia College vision. It is a privilege to be a member of the team from its very inception”.
