| Biography |
Karyn has a passion for the environment and for education and feels she has been very fortunate to combine the two in her work.
She has a degree in Environmental Science from Deakin University and has worked as an Environmental Consultant on waterways and as a Ranger at the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Karyn’s Education Degree is from Melbourne University and she has worked in a variety of secondary schools including Elizabeth Murdoch, the Southern Teaching Unit and Diamond Valley College. She has extensive experience teaching Mathematics and Science from Years 7 to 12, including several years teaching the current Year 12 VCE Biology course. She particularly enjoys developing specialist programs such as her Year 10 Forensic Science course and integrated units such as Year 10 Biochemistry. Karyn also has extensive leadership experience in the student welfare area such as Year 12 Coordination and in curriculum development such as Numeracy Team Leader.
Karyn enjoys and contributes to a wide range of school activities such as science and numeracy weeks, year level camps and sports. She spent several years early in her teaching career as a leader for camps in America and continues her extensive interest in swimming as a swimming teacher and competitor for a local swimming club. She also enjoys travelling, reading, diving, strolling along the beach at sunset, raising chickens and walking.
Karyn is thrilled to join the Acacia team and looks forward to an exciting time during 2010 and beyond.
